The Weaver's Potato Chip Company, Inc. had its beginnings in 1932 on a stove in the kitchen of Ed and Phyllis Weaver, Sr. in Lincoln, Nebraska. Mr. Weaver had learned of the potato chip business from an advertisement for cooking equipment. Since he didn't have the funds to purchase the equipment, he improvised with kettles on the stove. Two months later, production of the hand-scrubbed "Weaver Brownie Vitamin Chips" moved to the basement where their children Ed, Jr. and Mary Lou joined them in the weighing and packaging line. In 1944, the company moved to a new plant at 129 South 21st where production of the renamed "Weaver Potato Wafers" grew with the addition of a new continuous line chip cooker.

By 1950, Weaver's had outgrown the 21st Street plant and moved to a more spacious facility at 610 L Street. Here, production consumed 1,400 pounds of potatoes an hour. As Weaver's distribution expanded throughout Nebraska and surrounding states, the plant expanded, eventually processing 5,000 pounds of potatoes an hour.

In 1964, the company purchased land in the newly developed Lincoln Industrial Park and the current office, plant, and warehouse facility was constructed. Since that time, the plant has been expanded four times.

In 1998, the company was purchased by a Weaver's Potato Chip and Snack Food Company, LLC and is currently managed by Affinity Management Company.

During 1999, the company has developed new lines of snacks which include: the Sundance Chip Line, consisting of Hot corn chips, BBQ corn chips, Hot potato chips, and hot popcorn; also new is the Don Lino's line of snacks, which targets Hispanic consumers. This line consists of a hot corn chip, a hot cheese corn, hot potato chip, and a hot cheese snap.
